BISMARCK, N.D.(PlayNorthStar.com) – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference announced its third edition of the Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week honors Tuesday.  Kendra Odegard of Valley City State (N.D.) was selected as the Field Athlete-of-the-Week.  Illise Jennings of Dickinson State (N.D.) was chosen as the Track Athlete-of-the-Week.

North Star Athletic Association Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Kendra Odegard – Valley City State (N.D.) – Freshman – Lisbon, N.D. – Odegard remained undefeated in the javelin throw for Valley City State (N.D.), winning the title at the NCAA Division II Al Bortke Open hosted by Mary (N.D.).  It was her third straight meet that she won the javelin throw title, tossing the national provisional mark of 40.41 meters (132 feet, 7 inches).  Odegard also produced personal best in the discus throw (35.64 meters – 116 feet, 11 inches) and hammer throw (31.88 meters – 104 feet, 7 inches).

North Star Athletic Association Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Illise Jennings – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Junior – Garrison, N.D. – Jennings ran the NAIA ‘B’ Provisional qualifying time in the 100-meter dash for Dickinson State (N.D.) at the Al Borkte Open, hosted by NCAA Division II Mary (N.D.).  She won the race with a time of 11.98 seconds, breaking the school record and made her the fourth female athlete to ever under 12 seconds in the 100-meter dash in the North Star Athletic Association.  Jennings also clocked a time of 25.68 seconds in the 200-meters.

Looking Ahead
The North Star Athletic Association Outdoor Multi-Events Championships scheduled for Wednesday-Thursday in Orange City, Iowa has been postponed due to poor weather conditions that are currently impacting the Upper Midwest region.  The new date for the conference multi-events championships (women’s heptathlon, men’s decathlon) will be on April 22-23 in Aberdeen, S.D., in conjunction of NCAA Division II Dewy Donat Open hosted by Northern State (S.D.).

Bellevue (Neb.) is scheduled to compete in the Loper Invitational, hosted by NCAA Division II Nebraska-Kearney on Friday.

Dakota State (S.D.) heads to North Newton, Kan. on Friday for the Bethel (Kan.) Invitational.

Dickinson State (N.D.) will be idle until April 22-23 as they compete in the Ron Manzant Open in Moorhead, Minn.

Iowa Wesleyan travels to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for the Rittgers Invitational hosted by NCAA Division III Coe College on Friday.

Valley City State (N.D.) is idle until April 19 as they are scheduled to host their home meet.  Viterbo (Wis.) is also idle until April 22-23 where they are scheduled to compete in the two-day Phil Esten Challenge in La Crosse, Wis.

Waldorf (Iowa) is set to compete in the two-day Northwestern (Iowa) Red Raider Open in Orange City, Iowa, Wednesday and Thursday.
