(NDAgConnection.com) – A second consecutive week of above-normal moisture and below-normal temperatures brought further drought improvement to the Midwest.
Heavy rains also visited parts of the South, and Southeast this past week, leading to broad areas of improvement in these regions as well.
But according to the latest Drought Monitor report of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, dry conditions in the High Plains remained largely unchanged for the week ending April 5 while many locations in the West set records for the driest 3-month period (January to March) going back 100 years or more.
Affected areas included parts of southern Idaho.
In the Northwest, only southwest Oregon saw improvement with a small decline in moderate drought.
