RAPID CITY, S.D. (jimmiepride.com)– The University of Jamestown women’s golf team placed sixth of 11 teams Monday at the Hardrocker Invite, hosted by South Dakota School of Mines at the par-71, 5,755 yard Arrowhead Country Club.

HARDROCKER INVITE RESULTS

The tournament was originally scheduled for 18 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday, but was condensed into a one-day, 36-hole event.

UJ finished with a team score of 161-over 729 (367-362) to finish sixth, 24 shots behind fifth-place Minot State (N.D.) University. First place went to University of Sioux Falls, who finished at 113-over 681 (339-342).

Izzy Marchino (SR/Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was the top finisher for the Jimmies, tying for 20th at 38-over 180 (92-88). Kyra Vogel (FR/Jamestown, N.D.) tied for 26th at 40-over 182 (97-85), while Jayme Carlson (JR/Hartford, S.D.) (91-94) and Coley Olson (SO/Cook, Minn.) (90-95) tied for 30th at 43-over 185. Faith Justesen (SO/Hawley, Minn.) tied for 34th at 47-over 189 (94-95). Megan Hinker of Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) University was first at 16-over 158 (81-77).

“Today was a test of our physical and mental toughness,” said UJ head coach Zach Hale. “We had too many big numbers on holes that got the better of us. We will work on fine tuning some areas over the next couple of weeks before we head to the Siouxland Invite.”

The Jimmies will play at the Siouxland Invite on April 18 and 19.
