AMES, Iowa (jimmiepride.com)– The University of Jamestown men’s golf team took first place at the Jimmie Spring Swing, which concluded Tuesday at the Ames Golf & Country Club.

RESULTS

The Jimmies finished with a team score of 613 (302-311), 14 shots ahead of second-place Hastings (Neb.) College, and  28 shots ahead of third-place Alexandria Tech.

Tate Olson (SR/Cook, Minn.), who was tied for first after Monday’s opening round, continued his hold on the lead and finished at 5-over 147 (70-77) to place first. Tomas Garcia (FR/Vigo, Spain) was fourth at 12-over 154 (74-80), and Jackson Worner (JR/West Fargo, N.D.) (79-77) and Max Noffsinger (FR/Ft. Collins, Colo.) (79-77) tied for fifth at 14-over 156. Gehrig Geiss (FR/Glen Ullin, N.D.) was 15th at 18-over 160 (79-81).

Playing as individuals, Treyton Forsman (SR/Lewiston, Idaho) tied for fifth at 14-over 156 (76-80), Benjamin Schaefer (SO/New Rockford, N.D.) tied for eighth at 15-over 157 (78-79), and Carter Wells (JR/Huron, S.D.) was 32nd at 30-over 172 (82-90).

“To have three of our guys finish in the top-5 and another being the individual champion in Tate is a tremendous accomplishment,” said UJ head coach Zach Hale. “That’s what helped us to bring home the men’s team champion trophy as well. I’m so proud of the mental toughness and grit that we showed this week and we are looking forward to our next tournament at TPC Deere Run.”

The Jimmies will be at the Lawrence Tech Invite at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., April 8-9.
