KANSAS CITY, MO. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown’s Mason Walters has been named an NAIA All-American First Team member for the second consecutive season, the NAIA office announced on Thursday.

Walters, a junior for the Jimmies, led Jamestown this season in points per game (24.2) and rebounds per game (11.5). He was also selected as the Great Plains Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season and finished second in the country in points per game this year. Walters also had the fourth most rebounds in the NAIA (356) this season.

During the 2021-22 season, Walters moved into first place all-time in rebounds in Jamestown history, surpassing Brandon Wilkens with 918 career boards. Walters also moved into second place in all-time scoring with 1,758 points, just 18 points behind Brequan Tucker for first place. He also set the record for most points scored in a season for a Jimmie, putting up 751 points in 2021-22.

Jamestown finished its season with a 26-10 overall record, advancing to the Round of 16 and Kansas City for the 3rd time in the last four seasons. Walters was joined on the All-American list by two other GPAC players, Carter Kent (CUNE) and Alex Van Kalsbeek (Northwestern) were both on the second team. Zach Wrightsil of National Champion Loyola (LA) was named the NAIA Player of the Year.
