OLATHE, Kan. (jimmiepride.com)— Izzy Marchino (SR/Highlands Ranch, Colo.) is tied for second and the University of Jamestown women’s golf team is fourth after the first day of the Baker Spring Invitational, which is being played at the par 72, 5830-yard Prairie Highlands Golf Club.

Marchino shot an 11-over 83 to tie with Ashley White of Evangel (Mo.) and is six shots in back of Maria Zrodowska of William Woods (Mo.) for the lead.
As a team, the Jimmies are in fourth place at 63-over 351, two shots behind Baker (Kan.), five shots behind Evangel (Mo.), and 11 shots behind William Woods (Mo.)
Kyra Vogel (FR/Jamestown, N.D.) and Faith Justesen (SO/Hawley, Minn.) are both tied for 14th at 16-over 88, while Coley Olson (SO/Cook, Minn.) is tied for 20th at 20-over 92, and Jayme Carlson (JR/Hartford, S.D.) is 36th at 33-over 105.
“It’s great to be back playing tournament golf again,” said UJ head coach Zach Hale. “We certainly left a few shots out there today, but all in all I’m very proud of how our ladies kept their composure and battled through some adversity today. We have some work to do tomorrow, but anything can happen and we are excited to make a run at it tomorrow.”
The tournament concludes Tuesday.
