JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A popular area event created to help keep people safe during the pandemic is returning this Easter.

The Jamestown United Way first created the Easter Egg Hunt You Wake Up To in response to social distancing and after Jamestown Parks & Recreation made the decision to cancel their longtime hunt in 2020.

Karla Bachmeier says the eggs donated by The Elk’s Club were used in the first year of the event for United Way, but the event has since grown from there.

United Way Board Member Becky Kercher added that they will be offering two options this year for families who want to participate.

The group will be offering pick-up times for those wishing to take the eggs and hide them themselves. Kercher encourages any family outside of the Jamestown area to participate this way.

Bachmeier added the Easter Egg event is one of the many ways they support the local agencies they partner with.

Kercher says they’ve appreciated the community’s past support with this and other United Way events, adding they’d love to have more board members join them.

Options for eggs this year include 50 for $25 each or 25 eggs for $15. Eggs will be filled with treats and chances to win prizes such as movie tickets and even bikes. Orders will be accepted through April 8th. Delivery will take place between 6 PM and 9 PM on April 16th.
