CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Carrington City Council has made moves to save the city some money after refinancing a 2014 street bond during their March meeting.

Mayor Tom Erdmann says the $5 million bond had the option of being revisited 7 or 8 years into the bond period.

Erdmann added lower bond rates will work in the city’s favor, but special assessments won’t change.

In other city business, Fire Chief Ken Wangen reported on fire calls to the council. Erdmann added that aged equipment with the department will need to be looked at and addressed.

A meeting was held last week at the Fire Department to discuss financing and other ways to address purchase of a new or used fire truck for the city.

Mayor Erdmann says the first week of April is City Government Week and they’ll be celebrating accordingly with the public.

The Carrington Airport will also be undergoing a substantial resurface project this summer as well.

Carrington Police also reported on the large cocaine drug bust that took place in February.
