KANSAS CITY, Mo.– The University of Jamestown men’s basketball team faces No. 6 Talladega (Ala.) College Friday at 5 p.m. at the NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championship.

Jamestown, the number six seed in the Duer bracket, faces the second-seeded Tornadoes in the Round of 16. The Jimmies defeated 11th-seed Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) College 84-70 and No. 3 seed Carroll (Mont.) College 73-66 to advance to Kansas City. Talladega won 79-70 over 15th-seed Washington Adventist (Md.) and 67-49 over No. 7 seed Cumberland (Tenn.) to make the final site.
The Jimmies (26-9) are making their 12th appearance at nationals and are 11-11 all-time in tournament games. Mason Walters (JR/Jamestown, ND) (JR/Jamestown, ND) leads UJ in scoring with 24.5 points per game and rebounding with 11.6 rebounds per game. Marc Kjos (JR/Lake City, MN) (JR/Lake City, MN) averages 4.2 assists per game.
Talladega (29-5) is making their 9th appearance (fourth consecutive) in the national tournament field and have a record of 8-7 in those appearances. The Tornadoes are led in scoring by Darryl Baker with 18.3 points per game, while Amir Yusef is the team’s leading rebounder at 6.3 per game. Cam Potts averages 6.6 assists per game.
Friday’s winner will advance to the quarterfinals at 7 p.m. on Saturday, taking on the winner of No. 8 seed IU Kokomo (Ind.) and No. 5 seed Concordia (Neb.)
