JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Social Worker Month in March is a time to celebrate the great profession of social work.

During Social Work Month, you’re encouraged to take time to learn more about the many positive contributions of the profession. Staci Metzger has been in social work for about 20 years and is the lead social worker with Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Social work covers a widespread of things from children and family work to hospice care. Workers help people solve and cope with problems in their every day life and help diagnose and treat mental, behavioral, and emotional issues.

Metzger added that in hospice social work, there are a few differences that makes her work unique.

Metzger says while majoring in social work, she didn’t really know what direction it would take her.

That’s before Hospice of the Red River Valley fell in her lap.
