Janice (Strand) Sarbaum, 81, Litchville, ND passed away at St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure, ND on February 22, 2022. The Memorial Service for Jan will be March 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church of Litchville. There will be lunch served at the church after the service. Burial will be in the Spring at Bethlehem Cemetery, rural Litchville.
Jan was born September 25, 1940 to Alvin and Olga (Dahl) Strand of Nome, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at Fillmore Lutheran Church, Enderlin, and graduated from Enderlin High School in 1958.
Jan married Lyle Gudmestad on January 18, 1959. They made their home in the Litchville area. They had one daughter, Shelly.
She married Rodney Sarbaum on March 17, 1973 and they made their home in rural Litchville. Jan worked various jobs and enjoyed working with people. She always loved to cook, which led her to run the Galley Cafe. She and Rodney later purchased the City Bar and ran that for some years before she went to work at the local grocery store.
Her hobbies were cooking, flowers, knitting and crocheting. But her favorite hobby of all was her love of bowling. She bowled for many years, attending tournaments all over. After one of her wins, she got to go to Reno, Nevada to bowl.
Jan is survived by her husband, Rod; daughter, Shelly (Dave) Bruse, all of Litchville; grandchildren: Tony (Kristen) Bruse, Litchville, Cody (Paula) Bruse, Fisher, MN, and Leah (Tyler) Baukol, Breckenridge, MN; great-grandchildren: Kenley and Andrew Bruse, Landon and Caiden Bruse; her brother, Arlyn (Betty) Strand, Nome, ND.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents; and a nephew, Brent Strand.
