She will be laid to rest in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Lidgerwood, ND later in the spring.
Madeline Irene Koreger was born on May 12, 1929, in Lidgerwood, ND to Margaret (DeMynck) and Edward Kroeger, Sr. Lynn, as she was referred to, grew up on the family farm and attended Dexter Township County School. She married Clifford Baumann of Lidgerwood on May 14, 1947, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Together they had 14 children which led to 41 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, and 27 great great grandchildren. The family moved around a lot due to Clifford being in the construction business. After several years, they settled in the Sanborn/Valley City, ND area.
Madeline worked as a nurse’s aide and cook. She owned and operated restaurants in Wimbledon, Underwood and Valley City. Lynn cooked at North Central School for 10 years. She volunteered at Maryvale and St. Catherine’s Nearly Nu store and made baby clothes for the unwed mother’s home in Minnesota.
Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, and making candles. Cooking and baking were her greatest love next to being surrounded by her family and friends. She would cook a meal for anyone that stopped by to visit with her, which may have been an excuse to do something she loved.
Her faith was everything to her. She visited Maryvale any chance she had to visit with the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation. They would pray together and she’d help any way she could. Lynn enjoyed the quilting group at St. Catherine’s and was a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Madeline is survived by her children, Benard (Cyndee), Robert (Judy), Julie Franklin, Jean Swenson, Steven (Leena), Gary (Jan), Mary (Edward) Hollingshead, Darlene (Greg) Marcotte-Johnson, Kathleen Filiaga, Lori (Steve) Hoppe, Jay (Terri), Terilyn Blotske, Brent; her son-in-law, Tom Cole; along with her many grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
