JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For more than 20 years, Jeff Wolsky has responded to many house fires and natural disasters as a Jamestown area volunteer with the American Red Cross Association.

And 2022 has not slowed down.

March is Red Cross month and is used as a way to recognize the individuals across the country who turn compassion into action, helping others in times of crisis.

Wolsky says in serving the North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota region, they’ve already responded to an alarming amount of home fires this year alone.

He added the American Red Cross is in desperate need of more volunteers as the demand for their presence and service grows. To help celebrate the organization, you’re asked to make a financial donation, give blood, volunteer, or simply learn lifesaving skills.

Wolsky says it’s a fantastic way to make a difference.

If becoming a volunteer for the organization isn’t possible, Wolsky says you can consider a blood donation. Red Cross volunteers see all too often the need for blood, but the supply right now is critically low.

Another reminder is when setting clocks ahead one hour for Daylight Saving Time before going to bed March 12th, you should also be checking the batteries in your smoke alarm.
