JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The final day of the Region 3 Boys Basketball tournament was held at the Jamestown Civic Center on Thursday night, here are the results:
Linton/Hazelton/Moffit/Braddock 63 South Border 39 (third place)
The Lions of LHMB defeat the Mustangs for the third time this year and take home third place honors at the Region 3 tournament. LHMB shot 55% from the field and had two players lead the way with 15 points each, Jace Jochim and Gentry Richter. SB was led by Kaden Bader with 12.
Lamoure/Litchville/Marion 48 Ellendale 23
The Loboes tough defense held the No. 9 Cardinals to only one field goal the entire first half, 1/13 shooting for 7% and LLM led 23-2 at halftime. The Cardinals would finally get a little spark from Riley Thorpe when he hit three 3-pointers in the third quarter, but the Loboes relentless defense kept the Cardinals in check. The Loboes were led by Landon Piehl with 17 points, followed by Charlie Bowman with 10. LLM made seven three pointers, four for Piehl. Ellendale was led by Thorpe with 14, including four 3’s, Senior Scott Wagner had only five. No. 8 LLM (22-3) will make their way to the State Class B Boys basketball tournament for the first time since 2015. The tournament will be held at the Minot State Dome, March 17-19. Seedings will be announced Friday night/Saturday morning. Games for Lamoure/LM at the State B can be heard on Q101.1 and newsdakota.com.
