JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Dollars for Scholars announced Dan Poland Machine (DPMI) is offering a new scholarship that will be awarded this spring to a graduating Jamestown High School or the JHS-BJA senior.

The Dan Poland Machine Scholarship will award $1,500 to a student with the passion and motivation to pursue education and training in a vocational trade.

Brett Poland, the owner shared, “The various skilled trades, from welding to plumbing to masonry and beyond, are essential to the continuing functioning of our communities. These trades provide excellent career opportunities along with intellectually stimulating and challenging work. Looking forward, there will be a high demand for individuals with these valuable skills in order to meet the continuing needs of growing communities. We look forward to providing this financial award to assist the young man or woman desiring to join us in this community of knowledgeable, skilled tradesmen.”

DPMI started as Enzminger Builders in the 80’s with Dan, and his wife Vickie, acquiring the business in 2000. With Dan’s move towards retirement, his son, Brett, has recently stepped into the role of business owner of the company. Over the years, DPMI has become a staple in the area for quality fabrication and repair with a focus on metalwork in large part due to the expertise, skill, and hard work of its’ employees.

Accepting the donation on behalf of Jamestown Dollars for Scholars was Elaine Hegland, board member. She shared, “Vocational trades provide outstanding opportunities for students. The Dan Poland Machine Scholarship can inspire students to pursue post-secondary vocational education and assist with those expenses.”
