VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCSUAthletics.com) – Former Valley City State defensive lineman Marshaun Jones has signed a contract to play professionally for the Iowa Barnstormers in the Indoor Football League this season

A 6-foot-1 defensive lineman, Jones finished his Viking career this fall by earning 1st Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-American. He recorded 15.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks as an interior defensive lineman.

“Marshaun is a very accomplished defensive lineman, earning multiple All-Conference and All-American awards at VCSU,” said Barnstormers coach Dave Mogensen. “We think his ability can translate from that level to the IFL and are looking forward to seeing what he can do against this higher level competition.”

Jones and the team are currently in training camp, which started March 1. Their first game is scheduled for March 18. The Iowa Barnstormers are located in Des Moines, Iowa, and are a member of the Indoor Football League – the longest consecutive-running indoor league in the country.

Former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner played for the Iowa Barnstormers before signing a contract with the St. Louis Rams, eventually leading the Rams to a Super Bowl victory.
