SIOUX CITY, Iowa (jimmiepride.com)– The University of Jamestown’s Mason Walters (JR/Jamestown, ND) was chosen as GPAC Player of the Year Wednesday as the conference office announced its postseason honors.
Walters, also the 2020-21 GPAC Player of the Year, is currently averaging 24.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. Walters is second in the NAIA in scoring and fifth in rebounding. His 686 points this season is second-most in Jimmie history, and he ranks third in rebounds and fourth in scoring among the all-time leaders at UJ.
Will Cordes (SO/Shakopee, MN) and Marc Kjos (JR/Lake City, MN) were named to the second team. Cordes is second on the Jimmies with 13.6 points per game and has made a team-high 82 three-pointers. Kjos is averaging 11.2 points and leads UJ with 4.0 assists per game. He is second in three-pointers made with 74.
Cole Woodford (SO/Redwood Falls, MN) and Devon Schultz (SR/Arlington, MN) earned honorable mention recognition. Woodford is one of three Jimmies averaging double figures in points with 10.7 per game, and is shooting a team-high 42.9 percent from three-point range. Schultz has been one of UJ’s top reserves and made seven starts, averaging 6.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.4 blocked shots per game. He is shooting a team-best 62 percent from the field.
Jamestown (24-9) advanced to the GPAC postseason tournament championship game and will find out Thursday their place in the NAIA National Championship bracket.
