JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Linton/HMB is headed to the state tournament after winning the Region 3 Championship game on Saturday evening.

Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier Rebels 47, Medina-Pingree/Buchanan Thunder 38

Both teams struggled shooting in the first half with the Rebels holding on to a 20-18 lead at the break. In the third quarter, the Thunder took the lead after putting up 14 points, but the Rebels turned it on in the fourth outscoring MPB 17-6 to seal third place game. Mataeya Mathern led all scorers with 19 points and 11 rebounds shooting 6/10 from the floor. Norah Entzi also scored 11 points. For the Thunder, Ryleigh Martin led the way with 15 points and ten rebounds. Allison Thomas also scored ten points.

Linton/HMB Lady Lions 48, LaMoure-Litchville/Marion Loboes 32

In the championship game, it was the Lady Lions who dominated for all 32 minutes. They got out to a quick 17-5 lead after the first quarter and they never looked back. The Lady Lions played aggressive lockdown defense that wouldn’t allow the Loboes’ best scorers to get any easy looks. The final three quarters felt like a coronation for Linton as they cruised to a state tournament berth. JayCee Richter led all scorers with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Teegan Scherr also got 16 points. For the Loboes, Molly Musland led the way with 11 points.
