DICKINSON, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Haley Nelson of the Jamestown gymnastics team was named the NDHSCA Senior Athlete of the Year on Saturday as she paced the Blue Jays with a fourth-place finish at the individual state meet.

Jamestown entered the individual meet after placing second as a team during the team competition on Friday night. Nelson scored a 38.000 in the all-around, led by her second-place finish on the floor in which she scored 9.767. Julia Skari ended up with a seventh place finish for the Blue Jays, with her best finish coming on the floor with a 9.583. Emma Hillerud placed 8th in the overall meet, taking second on the balance beam by scoring a 9.583. Blair Arbuckle took 13th overall by posting a score of 35.450.

Jamestown head coach Andrea Bitz, who was named the WDA Coach of the Year last week, was also named the 2022 NDHSCA Coach of the Year.
