FARGO, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown goalie Olivia Sorlie played a phenomenal game between the pipes and Cadee Stockert struck for the game-winning goal as the Blue Jays won their consolation semifinal matchup over Minot, 3-2.

The Majettes got in front of Jamestown in the middle of the first period when Martine Hammer put Minot up 1-0. Late in the first period, freshman Ellie Kruger scored an unassisted goal at the 12:23 mark to tie the game at one going to intermission. Kruger’s goal was her 18th of the season.

In the second period, senior Madi Hagan pushed Jamestown ahead 2-1 with just under 10 minutes to play with her third goal of the year. Bernadette Belzer and Makenna Nold each picked up an assist on the Hagan goal. Minot would answer late in period two, with Taylyn Cope scoring a power play goal, her 27th.

Neither team scored in the third period, although Minot had a goal waved off thanks to review with under two minutes to play. Sorlie made 46 saves during regulation, including 17 during the third period. In overtime, Stockert scored with under two minutes to go in the first overtime off of an assist by Belzer, set up by Alexis Kirkeby. Stockert’s goal was her third of her sophomore campaign. Sorlie finished with 49 saves on the night.

The Blue Jays now advance to play Mandan for 5th place at the state tournament. The girls will play 30 minutes after the boy’s game concludes.
