JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After poor weather conditions postponed the start of the tournament on Monday and Tuesday, the Region 3 Tournament finally got underway on Thursday with four games in the quarterfinals, here are the results:
D5 #1 Lamoure/Litchville/Marion 48, D6 #4 Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 38
The Loboes led early 14-5, then the Imperials cut the gap to just one 16-15 with about six minutes left in the second quarter, but still trailed 23-16 at the break. NGS took the lead by one point with about three minutes left to play in the third quarter, but LLM made some key free throws in the fourth and hung on for the victory. Molly Musland led the way for LLM with 21 points, Tessa Rasmusson added 14. NGS was led by Sophie Ketterling with 11. The Imperials end their season at 11-11 overall, LLM improves to 17-6 overall.
D5 #3 Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier 49, D6 #2 Kidder County 40
The game featured five ties and one lead change, but the EKM Rebels defeat the Wolves of Kidder County for the second time this year and will advance to the semifinals Friday night. The Rebels were led by two players with 15 points, Mataeya Mathern and Norah Entzi, Reagan Teske had 12, Mathern had 10 rebounds as well. KC was led by Avery Rath with 16. RV EKM improves to 20-2 overall, KC ends their season at 16-6 overall.
D6 #1 Linton/Hazelton/Moffit/Braddock 47, D5 #4 Carrington 35
In the third game of the day, Carrington led for most of the first half, but the Lady Lions put together the best quarter of basketball out of anybody in the tournament in the third quarter racking up 19 points to put the game out of reach. Linton/HMB was led by JayCee Richter who scored 20 points and snagged 14 rebounds. Teegan Scherr also contributed 13 points. Carrington’s Emma Rindy and Edyn Hoornaert led the way in scoring for the Cardinals with nine points apiece.
D6 #3 Medina-Pingree/Buchanan 46, D5 #2 Oakes 45
The night-capper lived up to its primetime slot and was a back-and-forth low-scoring thriller. Both teams struggled taking care of the ball and scoring in the contest. With 12.5 seconds remaining and the game tied, Oakes junior Laikyn Roney scored a go-ahead layup to put them up 45-43. However, the Thunder’s Allison Thomas nailed the game-winning three with 1.1 seconds to go. Roney finished with 23 points to lead all scorers. Thomas led all Thunder scorers with 15 points. Ryleigh Martin also scored 14 points and Isabel Schmidt scored 12 points.

7:30pm – Linton/HMB vs. Medina-PIngree/Buchanan (semifinal)
