JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jay boys basketball team punched its ticket to the West Region Tournament on Friday night with a 74-50 win over Williston.
Jamestown wasted little time jumping on the Coyotes, taking a 44-21 lead into the halftime break. In the second half, Williston cut the Blue Jay lead back down to 20, but Jamestown would immediately go on a 9-0 run to extend the lead and take care of the Coyotes for good.
Four players finished in double figures for Jamestown offensively, led by senior Adam Kallenbach who scored 21 points, 14 of which came in the first half. Sophomore Ryan Larson put up 16 points and grabbed five rebounds, and Caydann Cox had 10 points for Jamestown. Senior Luke Van Berkom posted a double-double for the Jays, scoring 11 points and snagging 13 rebounds. As a team, the Blue Jays went 9-of-15 from the free throw line.
Jamestown improves their overall record to 11-11 on the season, getting back to .500 for the first time since January 15th. The Blue Jays have now won four consecutive games and will take on the #1 seed in Minot on Thursday at the Bismarck Event Center. The Magicians have lost just two games this year, with one coming to Jamestown back on February 10th.
