JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality recently recognized the city of Jamestown Water Department for their work.

The Public Works Committee took time to award Water Superintendent Joe Rowell and his staff Certificates of Achievement for meeting all requirements of the 2021 Safe Drinking Water Act.

Rowell thanked his staff and city members for their support and work done to achieve this recognition.

The Jamestown Water Department provides between 2.8 million and 3 million gallons of water daily. Half is residential and the other half goes industrial/commercial.

Rowell says they produce about 1.3 billion gallons of safe water yearly at the treatment plant.

The committee also recommended approval of the Moto grader quote obtained through Minnesota Cooperative Purchasing Venture in the amount of $337,500 and approval of the next seal coat and patching project.
