VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Both Valley City Hi-Liner basketball teams had their games on Tuesday postponed due to bad weather. Both games were made up on Wednesday. The boys team traveled to take on West Fargo Sheyenne, and the Mustangs came away with the 84-58 win. For the girls team, they were home to take on the West Fargo Sheyenne Mustangs, and West Fargo Sheyenne came away victorious in this one as well 77-55.

Boys: West Fargo Sheyenne 84 Valley City 58

The Hi-Liners boys basketball team were lead in this one by Zach Sykora, who finished the game with 21-points. Sykora also added 6 rebounds. Cal Burchill chipping in 10-points of his own in the game on Wednesday. Unfortunately for the boys team, it was the Mustangs who would come away with the win at home. West Fargo Sheyenne got a game high 25-points from Kaleb Larson on their way to the home victory. The Hi-Liners boys team will close out their regular season Thursday night at home against West Fargo. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30PM, and they will host Parent’s night prior to tip off.

Girls: West Fargo Sheyenne 77 Valley City 55

The Hi-Liners girls basketball team were looking to make it back to back wins for the first time on the season as they hosted the Mustangs. The girls came out and played a great defensive first half only allowing West Fargo Sheyenne to score 29 points. The Mustangs lead a close game at the break 29-23. The teams would exchange baskets in the second half, and it was a late second half surge that would see the Mustangs run away with the victory. Next up for the Hi-Liners girls team will host West Fargo on Thursday night. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30PM, and they will host Parent’s night prior to tip off.
