SIOUX CENTER, IA. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown women’s basketball team saw its season come to a close on Wednesday night as the Jimmies fell to #21 Dordt in the GPAC Quarterfinals, 71-60.
Noelle Josephson became the 23rd UJ women’s basketball player to surpass 1,000 points in a career as she scored 13 points in the first half to achieve that distinction. Jamestown hung with the Defenders in the first two quarters, going into the half trailing by just two points, 36-34.
Dordt jumped out in front by as many as 14 points in the third quarter and headed into the fourth up by 12 points. In the final quarter, Jamestown didn’t get back within single digits until the final minute as the Defenders held on for their 18th win in the last 19 games.
Hannah DeMars led the Jimmies with 19 points, shooting 7-of-11 from the field and grabbing five rebounds. Josephson put up a double-double in her final game as a Jimmie, scoring 18 points to go along with 10 rebounds. UJ shot 31% from the floor as a team and went 23% from long range.
Jamestown wraps up its season with an 18-13 overall record, going 11-12 in the GPAC in 2022. The Jimmies will return everyone with the exception of Josephson next season.
