(USAGNET) – U.S. grains inspected for export increased last week but not as much as the total might have gone up if soybean inspections had not fallen by 16%.
The latest Grains Inspected and/or Weighed for Export report by the USDA shows soybean inspections fell below 1 million metric tons (MMT) to about 975,000 metric tons for the week ending Feb. 17.
That drop held the week-to-week total grain inspections to an increase of just under 3% to 3.5 MMT.
Inspections of corn, wheat, and sorghum all rose from the previous week.
Corn inspections stood at a bit more than 1.5 MMT after an increase of more than 8%.
