JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Public School Board reviewed the bids received for planned projects in the district.

The scope of the project includes the High School Athletic Addition, Gusner HVAC Replacement, and Middle School gymnasium cooling and re-window. The subtotal of these construction costs is estimated around $6.788 million.

Mike Barsness is the Director of Preconstruction Services with Consolidated Construction. He informed the board the new figure is based on changes made to the Jamestown High School project.

For mechanical costs, Barsness says those came in higher than budgeted.

After some “cost management”, Barsness says they were able to look at things the district wouldn’t need to implement and would save cost on. These included not adding acoustic wall panels and not adding vinyl wall graphics.

Barsness says they also recommended removing joint sealants at slap sawcuts, removing partition walls at the South and West interior elevations, and delaying the purchase of corner guards. Doing so would eliminate around $60,319 in costs.

The school board moved to approve the bid review and guaranteed maximum price on a 7 to 0 vote with two board members absent.
