JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Senior Annie Nabwe scored the game-winning bucket with just over 10 seconds to go on a bounce pass from senior Hunter Petersen as the Blue Jay girls took down Mandan, 67-65 on parents’ night.

Jamestown got off to a hot start, jumping in front of the Braves 21-6 before Mandan recollected themselves and brought it to a two-point game going into the half. In the second half, Mandan went up by as many as seven points thanks to their pressure on defense, but the Jays had another run in them on senior night to regain the lead and eventually grab the #4 seed for the West Region Tournament.

Two Blue Jays finished with double-doubles on the evening, including Nabwe who had 12 points and 17 rebounds. Junior Katie Falk put up 13 points to go along with 12 rebounds, and Ella Falk had 13 points and nine rebounds for Jamestown. Off the bench, Rylee Joseph scored 12 points, nine coming in the second half of play. Seniors Katie Trumbauer and Petersen combined for 15 total points in the regular-season finale.

Jamestown, now 12-7 overall and 11-7 in the WDA, will be the #4 seed in the West Region Tournament. The Jays are looking to return to the state tournament for the second consecutive year, and that quest begins on Thursday, March 3rd at the Bismarck Event Center. Jamestown will play at 3:45 pm inside of Exhibit Hall against the #5 seed out of the West. Full coverage can be heard on Jamestown 107.1/1400, online at newsdakota.com, or on the Jamestown 1071 app.
