BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown scored five goals on the power play on Friday night in the Capital City as the Blue Jays clinched a spot in the West Region Championship for the first time since 1995 with an 8-1 win over Bismarck High.

The first 12 minutes were a feeling-out process between the Demons and Jays before Jamestown went on the power play thanks to a five-minute major penalty on Bismarck. The Jays would strike first courtesy of Hunter Nelson with under four minutes to go in period one. Less than a minute later, Nolan Nenow put Jamestown in front 2-0 before scoring again 14 seconds later to lead the Jays into intermission with a 3-0 advantage.

Bismarck made it 3-1 two minutes into the second before Jamestown would strike on the power play again, with Nelson grabbing his second and Brooks Roaldson rattling in his first of the night. The Jays held a 5-1 going into period three.

58 seconds into the third, Nenow got his hat trick, scoring his 31st goal of the year. Later, Nelson would answer the call with his third goal of the game and 21st of the season. In the final two minutes, Michael Mahoney buried in one more to put an exclamation point on a Jamestown win. Nenow led the Jays with five total points in the semifinal victory.
