JLG Architects Project Manager Lee Dobrinz discusses the need for the study Thursday at Alfred Dickey Public Library on Thursday, February 17th.

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Public input is being collected regarding future space and the direction of the James River Valley Library System (JRVLS).

A brief presentation followed by public comment was held by JLG Architects. Project Manager Lee Dobrinz said it was looking at the “big picture” of what steps the library should take to either better utilize their current spaces or exploring expanding to adapt for the future of public libraries.

JRVLS Director Joe Rector says working with JLG Architects, they’ve made use of their current space to this point.

Rector added being able to transition to technological advancements while honoring the history of the library is key, hoping the move will expand current spaces for users of the library.

Dobrinz says this appears to be a common theme their seeing through public input.

Dorbinz says during public input, they’re looking to gather information on the importance of the Library’s features and services, the role technology should have, the role the library should play as a community space, and what the public wants spaces in the library to look and feel like.

JRVLS Library Director Joe Rector will be on Let’s Talk About It Thursday, February 24th to discuss more on the space needs study being conducted.
