JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School girls hockey team scored five first period goals on Tuesday night at Wilson Arena on the way to a 9-2 drubbing of Devil’s Lake.

It was the second win of the year for the Blue Jay girls against Devil’s Lake, defeating the Firebirds 10-1 on the road earlier this season. Junior Alexis Kirkeby picked up four points on the evening, including a hat trick in the victory for the Jays. Jamestown goalie Olivia Sorlie had an assist on Kirkeby’s first goal of the night, and made 14 saves between the pipes. Junior Bernadette Belzer had two goals and totaled three points for Jamestown.

With the win, the Blue Jays secure the #7 overall seed in the North Dakota State Tournament. Jamestown is now 8-9-1-2 on the year and will be on the road at Fargo North/South on Thursday before the final home game of the season Saturday against the Sioux Fall Flyers at 1:00 pm.
