JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – #4 LaMoure-Litchville/Marion claimed the crown in the District 5 Championship as the top four overall seeds clinched spots in the Region 3 Tournament.
Here are the results from the final day of the tournament.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: #4 LLM 66, #2 OAKES 39
The Loboes started the game 5/5 from the three-point line as they put up 29 points in the first quarter. LaMoure ended up shooting 53% from the floor and 57% from deep. LLM was led by District 5 Player of the Year Molly Musland who had 27 points and six rebounds. Mollie Robbins had 15 points, and Tessa Rasmusson was the other Loboe to hit double figures with 14. Eighth-grader Norah DelaBarre had 12 rebounds off the bench. Oakes, who will now be the #2 seed in the Region 3 Tournament, shot 23% in the second half. Emma Muggli finished with 11 to lead the Tornadoes, and Lakiyn Roney had eight.
REGION QUALIFIER: #1 EDGELEY/KULM/MONTPELIER 58, #6 ELLENDALE 16
Mataeya Mathern had another big game for the Rebels, putting up a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds. EKM only had 10 turnovers on offense while scoring 33 points off of Ellendale turnovers. Emily Kinzler also had 13 points for EKM and Kiara Jangula had five assists. The Rebels were 59% from the field in the second half. Christena Walker was the leading scorer for the Cardinals with four points while also grabbing 10 rebounds. Ellendale’s season comes to an end with a 5-16 overall record.
REGION QUALIFIER: #3 CARRINGTON 68, #5 GRIGGS-MIDKOTA 22
Carrington was +21 in the turnover margin in their win over the Titans to move onto the Region 3 tournament. Haley Wolsky finished with 14 points, Emma Rindy had 12, and Madison Johnson scored 10 for the Cardinals. Carrington made 10 threes in the victory. Griggs-Midkoa was led in scoring by Josie Johnson with eight points, and Asia Becherel had seven. The Titans end the year at 7-13.
