JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School boys basketball team got its biggest win of the year on Thursday night as the Blue Jays handled #1 Minot for a 65-53 victory.
The Blue Jays controlled Minot from the start, jumping out to a 36-18 halftime lead. Jamestown was able to hold the Magicians to just five made field goals in the first half, and the Jays only allowed a couple of offensive rebounds while playing strong defense.
In the second half, Minot applied more pressure by going to the full-court press at times, but Jamestown pulled away with strong performances by their seniors. Adam Kallenbach led all scorers with 26 points, putting up 13 in each half. Luke Van Berkom recorded his third double-double of the year with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Devin Beach scored nine points off the bench and sophomore Ryan Larson had six points. Mason Lunzman finished with a season-high nine rebounds.
With the win, Jamestown improves to 7-9 on the year and 6-9 in the West Region. The Blue Jays are currently the #8 seed overall in the WDA and will play against Minot again on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
