JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The winter sports season is starting to quickly wind to a close as the Blue Jays competed in basketball, hockey, and gymnastics this weekend.

BOY’S BASKETBALL: JAMESTOWN 80, TURTLE MOUNTAIN 75

Adam Kallenbach scored 24 points to lead all scorers on Saturday afternoon at Turtle Mountain as the Jays snapped a three-game losing streak. Mason Lunzman had a season-high 20 points, shooting 7-10 from the field in a big win for Jamestown. Freshman Noah Meissner also finished in double-figures, putting up 14 points as the Jays shot 48% from the floor. Jamestown, now 6-8 overall and 5-8 in the WDA, will play at home on Tuesday night at 7:30 against #3 Bismarck Century. GIRL’S BASKETBALL: JAMESTOWN 106, TURTLE MOUNTAIN 73

Jamestown put up 100 points for the second time this season to get revenge for a loss to the Bravettes earlier this year with a dominant performance on Saturday. Ella Falk posted 26 points to lead all scorers, grabbed 12 rebounds, and had seven assists in the victory. Katie Falk also had a double-double for the Blue Jays, scoring 20 points and snagging 14 rebounds. Katie Trumbauer, Rylee Joseph, and Teagan Bosche all ended the afternoon with at least 12 points. Jamestown will play at #1 Bismarck Century on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm as the Jays try to get their 10th win of the year and hand the Patriots their first loss in two seasons.

BOY’S HOCKEY: JAMESTOWN 5, WEST FARGO 3

Three second-period goals and a great night in net for Andrew Walz helped the Blue Jays snag a big non-conference win on Saturday over the Packers. Brooks Roaldson opened up the scoring in the second at the 6:13 mark, and the states leading point scorer Nolan Nenow put Jamestown ahead 2-0 less than three minutes later. The Blue Jays went into the third period in front 3-1 before West Fargo tied it up at 3 midway through the third. Joe Cummings then buried one in the back of the net to push Jamestown in front 4-3 before Connor McLachlan scored an empty netter to give Jamestown their 13th win of the year. The Jays have a chance to win the West Region this week with three wins, starting on Tuesday night at home against Mandan at 7:30 pm. Jamestown finished third out of nine teams on Saturday in Minot in the second to last regular season meet of the year. Haley Nelson paced the Blue Jays with a second place overall finish, taking first on the floor with a 9.525. Nelson also took third on the uneven bars and fourth on the vault. Jamestown will host a triangular against Fargo and Fargo Davies on Thursday at 5:00 pm.

GIRL’S HOCKEY: GRAND FORKS 4, JAMESTOWN 3 (SHOOTOUT)

The Blue Jays picked up a point despite falling to Grand Forks 4-3 in a shootout over the weekend on the road. Olivia Sorlie made 33 saves on the night, including three in the overtime period. Alexis Kirkeby scored two goals, both unassisted to lead the Jays. Bernadette Belzer also had a goal for Jamestown in the third period off an assist from Savannah Potratz. The Jays will be on the road at Mandan at 7:00 pm on Tuesday night.
