Mary Lou Nelson, age 72, of Jamestown, ND, passed away, Thursday, February 3rd at Sanford on Broadway, Fargo, ND. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 10th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sanborn, ND. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and one hour before the service all at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the church. Mary Louise (Hanenberg) Nelson, the daughter of Jacob and Adeline (Schwehr) Hanenberg, was born November 18, 1949 on the family farmstead near Sanborn, ND by a Midwife. She grew up and attended school in Sanborn and graduated from Sanborn High School in 1967. After her graduation, she attended college at Dakota Business College in Fargo. Mary Lou was united in marriage to Clinton Nelson at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Sanborn, ND on October 7, 1972. The couple lived in Wiskek, Valley City, then settled in Sanborn, ND where Mary Lou worked at the Local Bar and Mercy Hospital in ValleyCity. The couple later divorced in 1989. Mary Lou worked at the VFW in Valley City from 1999 to 2005 and in 2005 started at Walmart in Jamestown where she retired. Mary Lou enjoyed bingo, adventures with her sister Shirley, riding her motorcycle, visiting with her family and friends and never missed the opportunity to see an Elvis impersonator. She was a very hard working, loving mother and grandmother who will be miss greatly by her family.

Mary Lou is survived by her children, Lisa (Chris) Nelson, Dixon, IL, Renae (Kevin) Ask, Jamestown, ND, Douglas (Lindsay) Nelson, Moorhead, MN, Sheila (Kelly) Wangrud, Jamestown, ND and Robert (Erika) Nelson, Valley City, ND; 9 Grandchildren, Elizabeth (Blaine) Weyrauch, Amy Wolff, Donovan, Alicia, Riley, and Blake Ask, Adler Nelson, Morgan & Tyler Wangrud, Summer Nelson and Samantha (AJ) Von Bank; 9 Great-grandchildren, Brayden & Brooklyn Weyrauch, Xzavier Wolff-Davis, Majesty, Legacy, Majestic, & Jenesis Watkins, Colton, and Theo Von Bank; Sisters; Shirley Risser, Arlene Nelson, Catherine Scofield, Adeline Greshik and Maragaret (Darrell) Ourehagen; many many nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Great Granddaughter Sidney Weyrauch, Great Grandson Jameson Von Bank Sister Donna May Larson, Brother Kermit(Bub) Hanenberg, and Baby Brother.
