VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City State women’s basketball team was unable to slow down the white-hot Viterbo V-Hawks’ offense as they fall 93-75.

The first half was close the entire way with solid defense, but better offense from both teams. After the first quarter, Viterbo led 18-16 and it looked like it would be a close game the entire way with things staying the same to start the second quarter. The V-Hawks gave us a taste of what they would be like in the second half as they exploded out to an 11 point lead, but the Vikings rallied to only trail by four at the break.

The third quarter is where things got out of hand. Viterbo was making everything from everywhere and they dropped a whopping 30-burger. VCSU’s offense wasn’t bad, but they just weren’t able to keep up. Viterbo went into cruise control in the fourth control and were able to snap their five-game losing streak.

The V-Hawks shot 62.2% from the floor, 58.8% (10-17) from beyond the arc and 90% (23-26) from the free throw line.

Adrianna Torres led the way with 24 points and Taryn Dieterle got 21 points as well.

The Vikings fall to 6-5 in NSAA play and 9-12 overall. They go back on the road next weekend on Friday against Bellevue streaming on 1490 AM/96.3 FM KOVC, streaming online at newsdakota.com and on the KOVC app.
