VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Both Hi-Liner basketball teams were looking to pick up some momentum as we enter the final month of the regular season. The boys team traveled to take on Fargo South, while the girls team hosted Fargo South at the HAC. The boys lost their game 60-51, and the girls picked up their second win of the season in blowout fashion winning 86-47.

Girls: Valley City 86 Fargo South 47

The Hi-Liners came out fast in this game. They were dominating the boards on both ends of the floor. In the first half, and for the game for that matter, the Hi-Liners were getting all of the bounces and could do no wrong. Circus shots that had no business of going it went in, they would get 3’s banking off of the backboard, it was just one of those fun nights at the gym for the Hi-Liners. Peyton Pederson had a strong first half as she lead the way with 11 points. But it was her rebounding that was giving Valley City all of the time of possession. Brooke Eggermont also with a strong first half she had 13 of her 19 points in the half. Second half for the Hi-Liners remained the same as the first half, excellent shooting and rebounding just crushing the spirits of the Bruins. Dylann Diegel had one of her better performances of the season as she finished the game with 15 points and 12 of them coming in the second half. She would go 3 of 4 from 3-point range. It was a great evening for the Hi-Liners girls team and one that should give them a boost of confidence down the stretch. The girls team is right back at it tomorrow when they will travel to take on Grand Forks Red River.

Boys: Fargo South 60 Valley City 51

It was another tough night for the boys team as they lost their road game to Fargo South. It was a close game at the half as Valley City only trailed 28-25. They would play a close second half as well but unfortunately it just would not be enough on this night. Cal Burchill lead the way for Valley City with 13-points in the loss. Aiden Jacobson would follow with 12-points and Andrew Bernston with 11. Next up for the boys team, they will host Devils Lake tomorrow at the HAC.
