JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Blue Jays welcomed in Bismarck High for a WDA doubleheader on Thursday night, with both teams dropping their matchup against the Demons.

GIRL’S BASKETBALL: #4 BISMARCK HIGH 73, JAMESTOWN 53

The Jamestown girls hung tough with Bismarck High through the first 18 minutes of play, but the Demon press helped them pull away in the second half. Rylee Joseph was on fire from deep, converting on five threes to lead the Blue Jays with 15 points. Katie Trumbauer was the only other Jay in double figures, ending the game with 10. Katie Falk dealt with foul trouble all night, but still posted seven points and seven rebounds. Hunter Petersen finished with nine points, and Ella Falk had nine points. Jamestown played the game without Annie Nabwe and Haylie Hakanson. The Blue Jays fall to 8-5 overall on the year, 7-5 in the WDA. Jamestown will play Saturday at home against Turtle Mountain at 1:30 pm.

BOY’S BASKETBALL: #5 BISMARCK HIGH 75, JAMESTOWN 62

The Blue Jays struggled to score early in the first half, trailing 36-22 at the break. The Blue Jays played much better in the second half, but the early deficit was too much to overcome as the Demons drained the clocked in the final four minutes. Caydann Cox helped pace the Jays with 12 points and six rebounds. Noah Meissner scored all of his 11 points in the second half, and Devin Beach had eight of his nine in the final 18 minutes. Jamestown went 10-18 at the line and is now 5-8 on the year. The Blue Jays take on #1 Minot on the road tomorrow at 7:30 pm.
