JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School speech team began its 2022 season with a meet in Valley City on January 15.
JHS competed against 14 class A and B schools, placing third overall! The team had a successful first meet with Oliva Schriock and Paris Eslick placing first and state qualifying in a humorous duo.

Dramatic Interpretation – Ross Motter 2nd
Extemporaneous Speaking – Madison Grieve 4th
Humorous Duo – Oliva Schriock and Paris Eslick 1st (state qualifier), Trinity Cross and Cece Maulding 2nd
Humorous Interpretation – Olivia Schriock 7th
Impromptu Speaking – Madison Grieve 5th, Peter Weinzirel 6th
Radio Broadcasting – Madelyn Orr 3rd
Serious Prose – Ross Motter 2nd
Speech to Entertain – Paris Eslick 7th
Speech to Inform –Madelyn Orr 3rd, Devin Manson 7th
On January 29, the team traveled to North Sargent High School in Gwinner to compete against 19 class A and B schools.
JHS placed 3rd overall and had 3 more state qualifiers: Maddy Orr in radio broadcasting, Anja McDermid in serious prose, and Ross Motter in dramatic interpretation.

February will be a busy month for JHS speech as they will travel to St. Mary’s High School on the 12th, Fargo South on the 19th, and Shiloh High School in Bismarck on the 26th.
