ABERDEEN, S.D. (VCSUAthletics.com) – Taryn Dieterle‘s season-best performance of 20 points and 16 rebounds helped lift the Vikings over the Saints Friday night in Aberdeen, 70-63.

The Vikings used a 10-point run to build an 18-point advantage with four minutes remaining in the second quarter and held a 42-28 lead at the break. Presentation took a seven-point run in the fourth quarter – including five points from PC’s Emma Ogitchida – to close the gap to just four points at 63-59. VCSU held on to improve its record to 8-10 overall and 5-3 in the NSAA. Presentation College drops to 4-15 overall and 1-6 in the conference.

Dieterle paced the Vikings Friday, scoring 14 of her 20 points in the first half. She also tied a career-best 16 rebounds – including seven on the offensive glass – for her fifth double-double of the season. Adriana Torres also scored in double figures Friday with 12 points and pulled down seven rebounds off the Viking bench.

Ashlyn Diemert chipped in eight points and five rebounds for the Vikings while Emma Nielsen and Allie Negen each contributed seven points and Bayli Heap added six.

VCSU shot 41 percent from the field Friday night (24-58), 25 percent from the 3-point line (4-16) and 56 percent on free throws (18-32). Presentation shot 34 percent (19-56), 29 percent on 3’s (4-14) and 75 percent from the charity stripe (21-28).

Valley City State held the rebounding advantage on Friday night 43-26, including 13 on the offensive glass. Presentation scored 21 points off 17 Viking turnovers while VCSU scored 15 points off 13 Saint turnovers. The Vikings also totaled 27 bench points Friday.

Emma Ogitchida led Presentation with 18 points while Kat Kreiner chipped in 13 points and Al Morones scored 10.
