JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – A 32 point performance from Mason Walters on Wednesday night at Newman Arena wasn’t enough for the Jimmies as Jamestown stumbled in a loss to Mount Marty, 64-59.

The Jimmie offense struggled from the start of the game but the defense helped take Jamestown to a 31-20 lead at the halftime break. In the second half, Elijah Pappas of Mount Marty took over, scoring 14 second half points to lead the comeback for the Lancers and hand Jamestown its third consecutive loss at home. UJ shot poorly from the outside, finishing 5-24 from deep.

Walters collected his 13th double-double in 19 games played this season, ending the night with 32 points and 11 rebounds. At times on Wednesday night, Walters seemed like the only option on offense. Will Cordes was the only other Jimmie to reach double figures in the game, finishing with 11 points. Outside of Walters, Jamestown shot 10-45 from the field.

The Jimmies fall to 18-6 on the year and 8-6 in the GPAC on the season. Jamestown now sits in fifth place in the Great Plains Athletic Conference standings. UJ welcomes in Northwestern on Saturday afternoon for a 4 pm tipoff against the Red Raiders. Full coverage can be heard on Jamestown 107.1 FM/1400AM as well as newsdakota.com and the 107.1 app.
