BISMARCK, N.D. (NorthStarAthletics.com) – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has named Hunter Sand of Valley City State (N.D.) as its Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week, the No. 12 edition of the weekly honor was announced by the conference office Monday.
North Star Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week
Hunter Sand – Valley City State (N.D.) – 6’3″ – Senior – guard – Pekin, N.D. – After not playing Friday’s game, Sand came off the bench to drain six 3-pointers and scored a career-high 31 points in Valley City State’s (N.D.) 84-65 home victory over Presentation (S.D.). Knotted at 49-49 in the second half, Sand scored 17 of VCSU’s next 21 points to open a 70-54 Viking lead. Sand finished the game by going 11-of-14 from the field (78.6 percent), including 6-of-8 from the 3-point arc (75 percent), and converted 3-of-4 free-throws.
Looking Ahead This Week
All eight North Star Athletic Association members kick off the second half portion of the conference schedule Friday and Saturday with the same opponents from last weekend. Friday’s schedule includes Dakota State (S.D.) at Viterbo (Wis.), Bellevue (Neb.) at Waldorf (Iowa), Dickinson State (N.D.) at Mayville State (N.D.), and Valley City State (N.D.) at Presentation (S.D.).
Saturday’s North Star contests will have traveling partners switching sites with BU at VU, DaSU at WU, VCSU at MSU, and DiSU at PC.
