VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A portion of Valley City lost power for about 45 minutes Friday night. Just before 7 o’clock residents and businesses in the southern and western ends of the City lost power around 6:53pm January 21st.

Electrical Supervisor Marshall Senf said a failed insulator on one of their lines caused a pole to burn down which lead to the power outage. He said crews had to reroute power to restore electricity to the southern and western ends of the city. The rest of the city was not affected by the power outage including the northwest, northeast and a portion of the downtown area.

The owner of Valley Twin Cinema said he had to send his movie goers home due to the timing of the outage, other businesses had to do the same or reopened after electrical power was restored Friday night.

And late in the 4th quarter of the Valley City State woman’s basketball game the lights went out in the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse causing that game to end a bit early. The second game tipped off later between the VCSU Viking men and Mayville State.
