ELLENDALE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) 6’8″ Senior Center Scott Wagner led all scorers with 25 points as the Ellendale Cardinals defeat the Carrington Cardinals 59-47 Saturday afternoon in Class B Boys Basketball. Ellendale improves to a perfect 10-0 and 4-0 in District 5 plays, Carrington drops to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in D5 play.

Carrington held the lead for a short time in the first quarter leading 3-2 about 90 seconds into the game, Ellendale retook the lead but Carrington kept the game close for the most part through two in a half quarters. Ellendale was leading at one point in the second half by 15 points, but Carrington caused some turnovers with the full-court press and cut the gap to eight. Levi Reiss had eight points for Ellendale, after making the winning three-point shot the night before against Lamoure/LM. Carrington was led by Lucas Hendrickson with 12 and Grady Shipman with 11.

Next up for Carrington will be another D5 contest on Monday night in Carrington against BCN, KDAK will have the game starting about 715pm.
