JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For the past 14 years, Alex & Emma Kleingartner have owned and operated Emma Rosie’s Homecookin’, a local catering business founded in 2008.
On Wednesday, it was announced that the Kleingartner’s would be stepping away and on March 8th, would be transferring ownership to Nikki Domke. The announcement was made in a letter to patrons and in a video posted to social media.
Kleingartner ceremoniously passed the “whisk” to Domke, who has worked for Emma Rosie’s in some capacity for the last 10 years. Domke has also worked as manager of catering services at UND while in attendance.
During a discussion one night with Domke, Kleingartner says she learned of Domke’s interest in taking over the business.
“We trust Nikki with the business, and we hope you’ll trust her with your events,” Kleingartner stated in a letter to patrons. “We are proud and excited to see another young woman carry on the catering legacy we started, and we know she has what it takes to succeed. We will be working closely with Nikki throughout the first year to ensure she has all the resources and knowledge needed to continue providing high quality food and excellent service at a reasonable price. Please give her your business, and join us in welcoming her.”
Domke says starting March 8th when her ownership becomes official, she’ll change the name to “The Grateful Plate.”
“I am so excited to be starting this adventure with The Grateful Plate,” Domke said in a statement to NewsDakota.
“I have worked closely with Emma for ten years and also spent time as the catering student manager at UND while I was in school. I love catering and am so grateful for this opportunity. The love and support from this community has been overwhelming, and its only been one day. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!”
