JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Public Schools continues to remain vigilant combatting spread of COVID-19 and its variants in the district.
Superintendent Dr. Rob Lech says they continue to work with Central Valley Health and ensure booster opportunities are available for staff and support communication of vaccine opportunities for students.
He added that as CDC guidance changes, the district changes their policy too when it comes to COVID-19 protocols.
Dr. Lech says families can choose not to mask after five days, but would then need to have the child in a 10 day isolation. There are also changes for household contacts, with differences between unvaccinated and vaccinated students.
In other school information, Dr. Lech says they’ve been working on the Teacher Leadership Academy. The district had been approved for the rural leadership grant through the Burgum Foundation, so participants will be supported for half the tuition cost.
Fifteen minimum participants are being asked to participate in the program, which will consist of 5 semesters co-taught between a University Liaison and a District Liaison with a focus on application at the district level.
The program will give the district an opportunity to grow their own teacher leaders through an academy approach to content development and course delivery.
