YORK, Neb. (jimmiepride.com)– Sierra Talmadge (SR/Bismarck, N.D.) and Kelly LaCost (SO/Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) had individual top-four finishes for the University of Jamestown women’s wrestling team Saturday at the York Open.

Talmadge, ranked seventh in the NAIA at 170 pounds, finished second at York. She defeated Charity Goldsmith-Ding of York, currently ranked 19th in the NAIA at 191 but wrestling down a class, by 10-0 tech fall, then repeated the feat against Oklahoma City’s Angelina Adams, ranked 16th nationally. Talmadge needed just 2:35 to pin Colorado Mesa’s Caylee Collins, but lost a 6-0 decision to Collins’ teammate Tatum Heikkila in the championship match.

LaCost, the NAIA’s 12th-ranked wrestler at 191 pounds, won a 2-1 decision over William Jewell’s Sydni Scott, but was pinned by second-ranked Kelani Corbett of Lyon College in 1:09 in the semifinals. LaCost came back with an 8-0 decision over Grace Brown of Grand View, then lost 11-2 to Jayleen Sekona of Colorado Mesa University in the third place match.

Josie Bartishofski (SO/Weston, Wis.), ranked 10th in the NAIA at 123 pounds, went 2-2 on the day, including a 10-2 decision and a 10-0 tech fall. Sydney Dawson (SO/Fort Worth, Texas) (136) also went 2-2 on Saturday.

Arianna Marrufo (JR/Dos Palos, Calif.) (7th at 116) wrestled up to 123 and won a 6-2 decision, and Luisita Jara (SO/Menifee, Calif.) (9th at 136) earned a 10-0 tech fall for the other Jimmie victories.

Jamestown is off next weekend before competing at Augsburg University on January 29.
