JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Extensive planning continues as the Jamestown Public School District continues to address building needs for the future.

Superintendent Dr. Rob Lech says they’re continuing the design and budget process, focused on keeping costs as low as they can. Some projects include HVAC replacement for Gussner Elementary, window replacement and HVAC work for Jamestown Middle School, and an added Health and Wellness addition to Jamestown High School.

He says inflated costs and limited supplies are one of the biggest hurdles facing the Facility Committee.

Cost increases are found in each project, but the committee is hopeful bidding strategies will help capture cost savings and provide the greatest flexibility in their final scope determination.

Aaron Roberts is a member of the school board and Facility Committee.

Dr. Lech added that as quotes and designs evolve, they may see a “significant gap” between what the board wants and the initial quotes.

Total project costs for all projects is estimated at approximately $7.2 million.
