MANDAN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown girls basketball team came back from down nine at halftime break to earn a big conference win over Mandan, 70-62.

The Blue Jays struggled to play their style in the first half, committing double-digit turnovers and allowing Mandan to go in front by as many as 13. Annie Nabwe, Katie Falk, and Rylee Joseph were all in foul trouble in the first half for Jamestown.

In the second half, Jamestown quickly answered the bell, cutting the Mandan lead to one before the 14-minute mark. The Blue Jays would take the lead a couple of minutes later before going up by as many as nine points late in the second half. Despite both Nabwe and Falk fouling out inside the last two minutes, Jamestown was able to hang on for the win.

Nabwe led the Blue Jays with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Falk finished in double figures as well, scoring 15 points and grabbing six rebounds. Katie Trumbauer added in nine points and Joseph had eight more in the victory. As a team, Jamestown shot 16-23 from the free throw line.

The Blue Jays improve their overall record to 5-3 on the year, moving to 4-3 in the WDA. Jamestown’s girls will return to Jerry Meyer Arena on Thursday night to face off against Minot at 6 pm.
