Proposed dock project at Pelican Point

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Park Board received a year review of what was invested and done at Pelican Point in 2021.

Lazy Fish, LLC Owner Tom Schultz informed the park board that a total of $229,138.49 was invested in different projects on the property. He started with the roughly $12, 474.69 invested in the cabins.

Schultz say outside, they did roughly $216,663.80 in work that included installing 11 new camping spots in the lower campground.

Other work included installing drain tile, removing rock and reshaping sand on beaches and beach areas, and removing old fishing launch and damaged part of existing fishing launch per North Dakota Game & Fish.

Schultz says they continue to work and hope to revamp the playground equipment this year.

The Park Board later discussed upgrades to the boat ramp, fishing pier, and sidewalks at Lazy Fish. Estimated costs at this time come it at around $100,000 but may be less pending Game & Fish seeking another pier.

The project would be 75% funded by the North Dakota Game & Fish with the Garrison Diversion and Stutsman County covering the final 25%. The county’s share would be approximately $18,750.

Stutsman County Commissioner Steve Cichos made the motion to express interest in the project to move forward with the proposed project. The board unanimously approved.

The Park Board also approved to move forward with the proposed concession contract for the Jamestown Reservoir Marina Building to Lucas Dokter. The contract runs through December 31st, 2031.

Stutsman County Auditor Jessica Alonge stated that changes had been submitted by Park Board member Bob Martin and Commissioner Joan Morris for approval to the contract.

The Park Board Unanimously approved the contract.
